Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing about booking [booking]: flight [flight] from [from] to [to] on [date], operated by [airline]. On that date, my flight arrived [hours] hours late at the final destination.

Under Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, Articles 5, 6 and 7, as interpreted by the Court of Justice of the European Union (Sturgeon, C-402/07), I am entitled to compensation of [amount] per passenger[total].

If you consider that the disruption was caused by extraordinary circumstances, please provide evidence of those circumstances and of the measures you took to avoid the disruption.

Please pay the compensation by bank transfer within 14 days. I will send my bank details on request.

If I do not receive a satisfactory reply within that time, I will refer the matter to the competent enforcement body or alternative dispute resolution scheme, and reserve the right to take legal action.

Yours faithfully,
